House 2067 Featured on Houzz

"Period Features: Timber Fretwork"

Houzz is a fantastic platform for getting real design ideas from local projects.

Looking for inspiration on period timber details?  Well, Houzz have included House of Origin's House 2067 in an article about timber fretwork, which is quite an honour as every timber item shown below was lovingly removed, restored and replaced, so as to maintain the home's original character, albeit in a vastly improved configuration.

The timber grille featured on Houzz was originally over the hall 90° perpendicular to it's present location.  We delicately removed the timber at the beginning of the project, stored it on site, sanded it back and repositioned it so as to align with it's twin, which hangs over the entry hall.

Not only were we able to retain the timber, character and history of the home, but we were able to use this piece to enhance the hall/dining area in a new way that perfectly married in with the other restored timbers in the entry hall.

We are really pleased to be featured in this article, so jump over and have a read here.

Original Cards Get high Etsy listing!

House of Origin are pleased to announce we are now selling our beautiful, hand-made collages on Etsy and we are already quite popular!

Only a few days after listing and our store has been "favourited" several times and we are featured on the first page of "collage, cards", with most posted in the top 5 pages.  We have even been included in a "curated" selection of items by an Etsy user, quite the honour.  It's called "Deep Dreaming" and we think our Urban Uprising design fits nicely in the collection.

These beautiful handmade cards are digital prints of Zander's original collages.  They are a striking and unique way to theme up your Christmas wrapping.

There are no digital touch-ups here, just beautifully crafted collages, scanned and printed.

Head over to our Etsy page for a gander, or purchase from our shop here.

Jardan's New Kitchen Object Design Competition

House of Origin were a tad late in hearing about this design competition, but we quickly put together this entry because we wanted to test the waters for a new product thats been on the drawing board for a while.

This magnetic knife-block uses the iconic "shadow-board" graphic to bring the tool-shed into the kitchen, arguably the modern arena for experimentation.

Like all of our products, this would be made using timbers sourced from one of our projects and would be branded with the house's postcode, marking the material's derivation, it's House of Origin.

We may not have won this competition, but that doesn't mean we won't put this into production.  Let us know what you think.

House 2022 - Under Construction

You can get a lot done in a few weeks!

House of Origin's House 2022 project is well and truly under way and we are very pleased with the progress being made by everyone involved from Baker Developments.  Like many "Alterations and Additions" this project involves the removal and replacement of the rear of an existing home.

This extension will flood the newly-opened Kitchen/Living/Dining spaces with loads of light from new glazing and spectacular high ceilings.

Thankfully there have been no major "surprises" with the existing structure, which is always a concern when dealing with original building fabric.

With construction due to finish in a few weeks, expect to see some exciting "completed" shots soon.

Stay tuned.
