Previous Architectural Industry Experience
2010 - 2012 jaa studio as project architect on the enormous Point Piper projects. This involved extensive heritage considerations, the design and co-ordination of 700m2 of alterations and rectification works as well as the immense structural challenges involved with inserting an underground car-park below an existing heritage dwelling. 2009 - 2010 Sam Crawford Architects working on a variety of residential projects, seeing schemes through from sketch design to project administration, further refining a design aesthetic under the tutelage of Sam and garnering a holistic approach to architecture, design, materials and most importantly clients. 2008 - 2009 Tony Caro Architects on projects including the now complete Silk development in Pyrmont, which was shortlisted for the 2013 NSW Architecture Awards and has recently published in Architecture Review. Teaching 2015 + 2016 Zander tutors the course "Architectural Practice: Project Management and Finance" at UTS. 2015 Zander delivered an invited lecture at Asian School of Architecture and Design Innovation in Cochin, India on the current trends in Australian architecture and the House of Origin practice in particular. 2009 - 2010 Zander has had the pleasure of being a tutor for 3 semesters of First Year "Design Communications" at UTS. 2007 During his final year at Newcastle University Zander participated in 2 semesters of tutoring and assessing the design course for 1st year students. Furniture As well as spending his youth on film sets and in workshops with his carpenter/builder father, Zander has previous worked at "Asset Furniture" designing and documenting custom furniture to suit customer specifications. Heritage He also began his career in architecture by working for 18 months with the Heritage section of the Department of Public Works (DPWS), pouring over sandstone details and learning to draft with a pencil and drawing board "the old fashioned way". We are a strong design-driven practice, focused on rejuvenation through restoration. With skills in the field of architecture, building and carpentry, House of Origin endeavours to produce quality residential + small-scale commercial architecture + interiors, as well as home-wares. House of Origin's founder Zander Ricketson has worked experience across all scales of architecture in some of Sydney’s most prestigious architecture firms, but his passion is uncovering the inherent beauty of materials. House of Origin comes from a broad project and design experience base, making us capable of committing to all aspects of architecture, design and communications. |
