master builders association, nsw
Norwest business park campus
House of Origin was recently engaged to collaborated with the NSW Master Builders Association to provide guidance for their new training facility., based at Sydney's Norwest Business Park. Their classroom and practical training facilities requirements have been incorporated into an existing structure, replete with a series of signage, internal and external.
House of Origin was asked to advise how best to include both the NSW and National MBA logo into various elements around the building. This included replacing several external signs, exploring the opportunity of new signage areas as well as designing internal signage for the new reception area.
As this facility has practical workshops for students to actually build various elements, it was determined that the design brief for the signage should differ from the Forrest Lodge office signage of sharp, cut stainless steel and instead speak to the practical nature of the profession and the Master Builders' role in training would-be builders.
House of Origin proposed that the various signs utilise a series of materials and techniques that are commonly required in a building project, with the final design of the main entry external sign a combination of off-form concrete and cast brass.
